: The main protagonist of the series and the character that is controlled by the player in the games. Haruka's dream is to become a composer so she can make a song for her idol, Hayato. Following that dream, she enrolls into Saotome Academy, and enters into Class A (in the games, the player can choose between Class A and Class S). Her roommate is Tomochika Shibuya. In the anime, Haruka's backstory changes: she has lived with her grandmother since she was little due to sickness and discovered Hayato when she heard his song on a trip to the city, and she didn't know anything about music prior to enrolling into Saotome Academy. She's hard-working and gentle, and wants everyone to be happy, which grabs the attention of six boys, seven later in the series. She's 15 years old in the first game.
